A simple system for a packed schedule.

Start with fixed points

Block out meetings, shifts, and commitments that can't be moved. Don't fill the remaining time right away. Buffers aren't just for new tasks: they account for travel, rest, and unexpected changes.

Plan in blocks

Similar tasks are easier to do together. Group calls, admin tasks, and deep focus work into separate blocks. Switching between them throughout the day quietly drains energy. Keep one block open for urgent matters.

Pick your top priorities for the day

A 20-item to-do list rarely helps. Pick one key task and two more you can realistically finish. The rest isn't a failure, just a backlog to revisit if time permits.

Question the plan, not yourself

At the end of the day, ask: what took longer than expected, and what should change tomorrow? If your schedule is constantly overflowing, it's not a lack of discipline. It might just need room for real life.
