Why free time doesn't have to be earned.
Rest shouldn't be a reward
When a break is only allowed after everything is done, it almost never happens. Tasks keep piling up, while energy doesn't replenish on its own. Rest is an essential part of the day that helps you focus and stay in tune with your needs.
Leave breathing room
Try leaving a small gap between appointments completely empty. It doesn't have to be productive: a walk, a cup of tea, or a few minutes of quiet are enough to reset. This kind of pause is especially important after an intense conversation.
Choose what truly restores you
Some need exercise, others need time with loved ones, and some just want an evening with no plans. There's no one-size-fits-all formula. Listen to what brings you calm rather than adding another item to your achievement list.
Make peace with your schedule
Put rest on your calendar just like an important meeting. That doesn't make it a chore — it simply prevents other people's tasks from consuming your whole day. Free time deserves to be protected too.
